Pakistan armed forces celebrate Youm-e-Takbir, reaffirm nuclear deterrent commitment

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s military leadership has congratulated the nation on Youm-e-Takbir, marking 27 years since Pakistan became a nuclear power on May 28, 1998. In a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the armed forces called the day a symbol of restored strategic balance in South Asia and Pakistan’s defense independence.

The ISPR highlighted that Pakistan’s nuclear capability represents national unity and the pursuit of peace. It honored scientists, engineers, and leaders who made this achievement possible, emphasizing that the nuclear program exists solely for defensive purposes to ensure sovereignty.

“The armed forces remain fully committed to defending Pakistan against all threats,” the statement read, while renewing the pledge to work for the country’s security and prosperity.
