Pakistan Army joins rescue efforts amid tragic incident with tourists in Swat

SWAT: In response to the rapidly worsening flood situation in Swat, Pakistan army troops have been deployed to assist in rescue and relief operations across the affected areas, where 10 members of same family drowned near Fizaghut.

The military’s swift arrival comes after rising water levels in the Swat river led to devastating flash floods, posing a serious threat to human lives and property. The deployed army units are actively participating in the ongoing rescue missions alongside Rescue 1122, bringing their expertise and essential resources to support the civilian authorities. The troops have arrived with specialised equipment, including rescue boats, medical supplies, and emergency gear, to aid in the evacuation and relief of stranded individuals.

So far, three people have been successfully rescued alive from flood-affected zones through joint efforts, while seven bodies have been recovered, according to official updates. Rescue operations are ongoing, with teams working around the clock in dangerous and unpredictable conditions to locate and assist more victims.

In anticipation of further deterioration in weather conditions and flood levels, the military has placed additional troops on standby, ready to be deployed if needed. Coordination centres have been established to maintain real-time communication between civil administration, PDMA, and the armed forces.

Locals have praised the immediate and efficient response of the Pakistan Army, whose have been at the forefront of numerous natural disaster relief efforts in the country. Authorities have once again urged residents in flood-prone areas to move to safer locations and avoid crossing flooded roads or engaging in risky activities. Relief camps have been set up in safer zones, and arrangements are being made to accommodate families affected by the disaster.

The situation remains under close watch, with meteorological departments warning of more rainfall in the region over the coming days. Emergency helplines are active, and the Provincial Emergency Operations Centre (PEOC) remains operational around the clock for assistance and information.
