RAWALAKOT: The Pakistan Army organised a welfare programme for retired personnel in Rawalakot to address their issues.
It succeeded in attracting hundreds of veterans. GOC Murree and Corps Commander Rawalpindi were invited as special guests.
In his speech, Corps Commander Rawalpindi Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza talked about Pakistan’s many problems and stressed the country’s important role in the Muslim world.
He emphasised the commitment of Pakistani soldiers who defend their country’s borders at altitudes of up to 23,000 feet.
The military leadership spoke to the veterans face to face and actively listened to their issues, also trying to provide them with solutions and guiding them to address them. The Corps Commander also addressed how social media affects the next generation and urged constructive discussion and beneficial interaction on national issues.
He emphasised that there is an active plot by hostile forces to undermine Pakistan and called on everyone to come together and contribute to the nation’s development.
He added that hostile agents use social media to influence young people and disseminate false information.
The occasion gave former service members a platform to discuss their concerns and engage with current military officials for more effective dealing. The attendees conveyed gratitude for the effort and hoped for more initiatives of this kind in the future to keep close ties with the military community.
The initiative was an organised effort to solve welfare issues and improve relations between the military system and its veteran population. Military leaders took advantage of the opportunity to talk about both the needs of the local community and the interests of the country as a whole.
Veterans emphasised the role of the retired servicemen’s community in resolving welfare issues and maintaining institutional connections, viewing the event as a milestone in the growth of relationships between the active military establishment and the community.
