Pakistan, China to Form Joint Working Group for Enhanced Military Cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen military cooperation and strategic partnership, with both sides agreeing to establish a Joint Working Group to enhance collaboration between their air forces.

The agreement was reached during a meeting between Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu and Chinese Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun at the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) Headquarters in Beijing, according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The Chinese defense minister praised the professionalism of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) personnel. Both commanders agreed to expand cooperation through advanced tactical exercises and joint drills to improve combat readiness.

The Air Chief also held separate meetings with General Cheng Dingqiu, Commander of the PLAAF, and Major General Zhao Xiaojian, Director General of the Bureau of Military Equipment and Technical Cooperation. Discussions focused on deepening strategic ties, technology transfer, and joint development of military hardware.

During talks with Chinese defense industry leaders, Air Marshal Sidhu invited Chinese firms to invest in Pakistan’s National Aerospace Science and Technology Park (NASTP), highlighting its tax-free incentives and potential in unmanned systems, guided weapons, and cyber warfare.
