PESHAWAR: As the second phase of the evacuation of Afghans residing illegally in Pakistan continues, 1355 undocumented Afghans have been deported through the Torkham border in the first week of April.
According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Home Department report, 876 refugees holding Afghan citizen cards were repatriated through the Torkham border on April 5, 2025. 1,495 illegally residing foreigners were repatriated through Torkham the previous day.
The report states that 1,495 illegally residing foreigners were repatriated through Torkham the previous day. In five days, a total of 1,355 Afghan citizen card holders returned home through Torkham.
According to the report, a total of 481,285 illegal immigrants have crossed the Torkham border into Afghanistan since September 2023. Yesterday, 842 Afghan citizen cardholders and 318 illegal foreign nationals were sent to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for deportation by the federal government and Punjab.
The report by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Home Department further stated that 6,108 illegal immigrants were sent to their homeland from two transit points in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and one from Kohat Jail. 121 Afghan citizen cardholders from Islamabad, 12 illegals, 721 Afghan citizen cardholders from Punjab and 306 illegals are being taken for their evacuation.
