ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has coordinated the dispatch of 70 tons of emergency humanitarian aid to Myanmar, following the recent devastating earthquake that struck the region.
The relief effort, undertaken on the directives of the Prime Minister, includes two chartered cargo flights. The second flight, carrying 35 tons of essential supplies, departed from Islamabad International Airport for Yangon. Upon arrival, the consignment will be formally handed over to Myanmar’s Ministry of Social Welfare and Resettlement by Pakistan’s Ambassador and Defence Attaché in Myanmar.
The aid package includes tents, tarpaulins, blankets, water purification modules, medicines, and ready-to-eat meal packs, all intended to provide immediate assistance to those affected by the disaster.
Earlier, the first 35-ton consignment was handed over by Pakistan’s diplomatic mission in Myanmar to the Chief Minister of the Yangon Region for distribution among the impacted communities.
The Government of Pakistan and the NDMA have reaffirmed their strong commitment to supporting international humanitarian efforts and expressed solidarity with the people of Myanmar during this difficult time.
