Pakistan hosts defense chiefs from US, Central Asia for security talks

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan today hosted the Central and South Asia Chiefs of Defense Conference in Islamabad, bringing together top military officials from the United States, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Held under the theme “Strengthening Bonds, Securing Peace,” the high-level gathering marked a significant step in promoting regional defence collaboration and military diplomacy.

According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir welcomed the foreign delegations and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace, regional stability, and mutual trust.

“In an era defined by transnational threats and complex hybrid challenges, the need for deeper military cooperation, strategic dialogue, and mutual confidence is more critical than ever. Pakistan is fully committed to working with its partners to build a secure and prosperous region,” said Field Marshal Munir.

The forum provided a platform for comprehensive discussions on regional security, including joint training, counter-extremism efforts, cyber resilience, and interoperability among armed forces.

Participants concluded the conference with a unified pledge to strengthen military-to-military ties, protect sovereignty, and uphold peace and security across the region.

Delegates also praised Pakistan’s leadership, hospitality, and constructive role in fostering an inclusive and future-oriented defence strategy.
