Pakistan proposes zero-tariff bilateral trade agreement to US

ISLAMABAD:Pakistan has formally proposed a zero-tariff bilateral trade agreement with the United States, aiming to strengthen economic ties across multiple industries, The Express Tribune reported, citing government sources.

The offer follows recent discussions where the US president signaled interest in expanding trade with Pakistan. Under the proposed deal, both nations would eliminate tariffs on select goods to incentivize commerce while protecting mutual interests.

The development comes amid warming diplomatic relations after the US helped broker a ceasefire between Pakistan and India, easing tensions following recent military exchanges between the nuclear rivals.

Officials suggest the agreement could unlock new opportunities in textiles, agriculture, and technology. The proposal is now under review by US trade representatives.
