Pakistan Rangers detained an Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel on Thursday for crossing the border.
Details indicate that a flag meeting is currently taking place between Pakistan Rangers and the Indian BSF. Upon detaining the soldier, authorities found a G2 rifle, three magazines containing 60 rounds of ammunition, a water bottle, two mosquito repellents (agarbattis), a flashlight, a walkie-talkie set, a lighter, and a cloth bag in his possession.
The detained individual has been identified as Constable PK Singh, a resident of 18/28 TC Mukherjee Street, Kolkata, West Bengal, in the district of Hooghly. He has served in the Indian forces for 17 years. Singh claimed to be part of the 24th BSF Battalion; however, Pakistani intelligence records identified his unit as the 182nd BSF Battalion. He has since been moved to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.
This incident follows a serious deterioration in relations between India and Pakistan, occurring after India unilaterally suspended the Indus Waters Treaty on Wednesday. In response, Pakistan announced that any attempt to divert water from its territory would be regarded as an act of war, and it would respond with full force.
