Pakistan returns to British open squash after two decades through Noorzaman

Pakistan’s squash player Noorzaman has made history by qualifying for the British Open Squash Championship 2025, becoming the first Pakistani in 20 years to compete in the prestigious tournament.

The Lahore-based athlete secured his spot after a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Egypt’s Karim Al-Turki in the qualification round. This achievement marks a significant moment for Pakistani squash, which once dominated the sport globally.

Noorzaman is set to make his main round debut against England’s Curtis Malik on June 1. Squash enthusiasts across Pakistan are eagerly anticipating his performance, hoping his participation will reignite the country’s squash legacy.

The British Open, one of squash’s most iconic events, last featured a Pakistani player two decades ago. Noorzaman’s qualification is being celebrated as a potential turning point for the sport in Pakistan.
