ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has partnered with provincial governments to implement a digital system for birth and death registration in hospitals and health centers across Pakistan, including AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The initiative, part of the federal government’s Uraan Pakistan program, aims to modernize civil registration through real-time digital reporting. The system will ensure accurate recording of vital events, supporting national planning and digital economy projects.
NADRA is developing the platform under its National Registration and Biometric Policy Framework, with World Bank support through the Digital Economy Enhancement Project (DEEP). Agreements have already been signed with Sindh and Balochistan, with other regions to follow soon.
Sindh’s Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani attended the Karachi signing ceremony, where health and local government secretaries inked the pact with NADRA. Similar agreements were finalized in Quetta earlier.
