PESHAWAR: The government of Pakistan has set a deadline of September 1, 2025, for the evacuation of Afghan citizens residing in the country. Under this decision, Afghans holding POR cards and Afghan citizen cards will also have to leave the country, while now only 25 days are left for evacuation.

According to government officials, this step has been taken to control the increasing number of illegal immigrants in the country and ensure the registration of those residing legally.

The authorities have clarified that all Afghan citizens residing illegally in Pakistan, and even those who have temporary documents (such as PO cards or Afghan citizen cards), will have to return voluntarily.

The government has announced that force or abuse will be completely avoided during the evacuation process, while food, medical assistance and basic facilities have also been arranged for the returnees to complete the return process in a dignified and safe manner.

The authorities have appealed to Afghans to complete their return arrangements within the stipulated period to avoid any unpleasant situations. It should be noted that this decision has come at a time when the country is witnessing increasing pressure on security, resources and social systems due to illegal refugees.
