Pakistan set to reopen Kharlachi, Angoor Adda borders for trade

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Borders Trade Council leaders and Pak-Afghan Jirga representatives met Corps Commander Peshawar, Lieutenant General Omar Bukhari, to discuss reopening the trade routes with Afghanistan.

As per details, A high-level business delegation that includes representative of United Business Group Pakistan Patron-in-Chief SM Tanveer, FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh and Pak-Afghan Jirga Chief Syed Jawad Hussain Kazmi and others trade union representatives visited Corps Commander Peshawar and met Maj Gen Omer Bukhari.

Other key participants included Yousuf Afridi, President of the Khyber Chamber of Commerce, Haji Qadeerullah Wazir, President, of North Waziristan Chamber of Commerce, Haji Subhanullah, Group Leader of the Kurram Chamber of Commerce, Saif-ur-Rehman Wazir, Group Leader, South Waziristan Chamber of Commerce, Haji Lali Shah Pakhtunyar, President, Bajaur Chamber of Commerce and Syed Ali Hammad Kazmi, Kurram Chamber of Small Traders and Industries.

Business leaders urged authorities to reopen these borders to boost trade in merged districts and promote lasting peace and security.

It was decided in the meeting to restore trade activities at Kharlachi crossing at Torkham and Angoor Adda crossing at South Waziristan.

Syed Jawad Hussain Kazmi praised this step as a commendable move for peace and economic stability He said that the authorities have finalised the decision to reopen Kharlachi and Angoor Adda for trade and transportation.

Syed Jawad Hussain Kazmi confirmed that both border crossings will open soon after Eid, restoring vital trade links between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
