The Pakistan Army on Tuesday shot down two Indian quadcopter drones near the Line of Control (LoC) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), according to state media reports. The incident comes amid heightened tensions between Pakistan and India following the recent Pahalgam attack.
Security sources revealed that both drones were intercepted and destroyed in separate incidents on the same day. The first quadcopter was downed in the Manawar sector of Bhimber, reportedly violating Pakistani airspace and operated by the Indian Army’s 5 Assam Regiment.
The second drone, identified as a modern surveillance drone, the Pantham IV model, was shot down in the Satwal sector while attempting illegal reconnaissance within Pakistani territory.
Military officials stated that India continues to engage in provocative actions along the LoC, but the Pakistan Army responded effectively and decisively, thwarting the incursions.
Defence experts have condemned India’s actions as “irresponsible and deliberate provocations” aimed at escalating tensions and undermining regional peace. They emphasised that such violations are not isolated incidents but part of a broader pattern of aggression.
Experts further noted that the swift and precise response by the Pakistan Army highlights its professionalism, operational readiness, and constant vigilance. The military remains fully prepared to respond to any form of aggression in defence of national sovereignty.
