Pakistan shot down a total of five Indian jets and one drone: Khawaja Asif

RAWALPINDI: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif confirmed Pakistan had shot down five Indian aircraft and a drone, while an infantry Brigade headquarters was also targeted in the retaliatory action of the Pakistan army.

 

Security sources later said a third aircraft was shot down 15 NM North East of Avantipura. These include three Rafales, one MIG, and one SU-30, according to security sources. Two videos shared on social media suggested that one Indian aircraft went down near a school in the Indian Occupied Kashmir. Kashmiris are heard speaking about the incident in the video. In addition, at the Line of Control (LoC), Indian troops abandoned the Joli Post and fled from 50 military posts in the Budori sector.  As the Indian troops retreated, Pakistan Army targeted them with artillery fire. Reports suggest heavy casualties among Indian forces due to the Pakistan Army’s shelling. In Peer Kanthi sector as well, Indian troops deserted 40 posts, and Pakistan’s retaliatory action reportedly resulted in multiple fatalities.

 

A video shared on social media showed fire at what is believed to be an Indian brigade headquarters, as people could be heard shouting. An exchange of fire was reported on the control line in the Dudhnial sector.DG ISPR stated that no Indian aircraft were allowed to enter Pakistani territory. The Pakistan Air Force remains on high alert, prepared to respond decisively to any further aggression. “Pakistan will choose the time and method for a full-scale response,” he added. Aviation sources confirmed that Lahore’s airspace has been completely shut down for 48 hours as a precautionary measure. Citizens are advised to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel. “There are two confirmed aircraft of the Indian Air Force have already been shot down,” Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, spokesperson for the Pakistani military, told CNN’s Jim Sciutto. “There are other reports of multiple damages that the Pakistani forces, both on the ground and air, have inflicted.

 

Director General Inter Services Public Relations Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif said that a total of eight Pakistani innocent citizen martyred and 35 others injured in Indian missile attacks in five different locations of the country. Addressing the Press Conference Director General said that India has targeted Masjid Abad in Kotli and another Mosque Masjid Subhan in Ahmad Pur Sharqia, Bahawalpur district of Punjab. Another missile hit Masjid Bilal in Muzafar Abad area, while a village, Loharan, was targeted in Sialkot district. The largest number of casualties occurred in Ahmad Pur Sharqia, where 31 innocent Pakistanis were injured and two others martyred. He said that media personnel would be allowed to visit these places and examine the civilian casualties. The international media would be given a briefing on this situation, where India has targeted the places of worship and innocent children.
