Pakistan threatened boycott of the Asia Cup, if match referee, Pycroft not removed

Pakistan against referee

Pakistan has threatened not to play any more matches in the Asia Cup if the match referee Andy Pycroft is not removed or replaced.

According to media sources, if the match referee is not replaced, Pakistan will not play any more matches in the Asia Cup. In a statement in this regard, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that the PCB has complained to the ICC that the match referee took steps against the spirit of cricket.

He said that a formal complaint was made against the match referee for violating the ICC Code of Conduct, and the PCB has demanded the immediate removal of match referee Andy Pycroft from the Asia Cup.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has written a detailed letter to the ICC and MCC regarding the situation that took place in the Asia Cup yesterday. The PCB has registered a formal protest against the Indian team’s inappropriate behaviour, violation of rules and regulations during the sixth match of the Asia Cup 2025.

The protest letter has been written in light of the incident that occurred during the Pakistan-India match in the Asia Cup. The letter said that match referee Andy Pycroft told Pakistan captain Salman Agha that there would be no handshake during the toss. The letter has taken the position that the match referee did not fulfil his responsibilities. The match referee has violated the ICC Code of Conduct. An attempt has been made to damage the spirit of the game.

The letter also states that the match referee’s conduct is contrary to the spirit of the game and MCC rules. The PCB believes that this is a major violation, for which Andy Pycroft should be removed from the Asia Cup. According to sources, Andy Pycroft had earlier told the Pakistan media manager that all this should not be recorded.
