Pakistan warned citizens not to share content related to national security

PESHAWAR: The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT) has issued a strong advisory for social media users across Pakistan, urging caution in sharing content related to ongoing military and national security developments.

The advisory comes amid heightened tensions in the region and increased sensitivity around digital information flow. It warns users against sharing unverified posts, rumours, and misinformation that could potentially harm national interests. “Do not share photos, videos, or information related to military movements, operations, or any sensitive incident,” the advisory said, adding that such actions could compromise operational security and assist hostile elements. The National CERT emphasised that all content must be verified through proven evidence or trusted sources before being shared publicly. It cautioned the public to stay away from emotional and sensational content, which is often used to spread panic or manipulate public perception. “Spreading false or unverified information can disrupt public order and pose a serious threat to national security,” the advisory warned
