Pakistan women’s team secures spot in ICC World Cup

 

LAHORE: Pakistan women’s cricket team has qualified for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup 2025 after defeating Thailand in the 12th match held at Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Pakistan’s female cricket team won the toss and chose to bat first. Pakistani player Sidra Amin delivered an impressive performance, scoring 80 runs. The team set a target of 205 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted fifty overs. Captain Fatima Sana also contributed significantly with a score of 62 runs.

In response, the Thai women’s team was all out for just 118 runs, resulting in a victory for Pakistan by 87 runs. Pakistani bowlers Rameen Shamim, Fatima Sana, and Nashra Sandhu each took three wickets, while Sadia Iqbal claimed one wicket.

With this win, Pakistan women’s cricket team has dominated throughout the tournament, securing four consecutive wins. They will play their final match against Bangladesh on April 19. This victory makes them the first team to qualify for the Cricket World Cup 2025, which will be hosted by India this year.
