Pakistani Parliament unanimously passed resolution to condemns Israeli attack on Iran

National Assembly meets today at 2pm with 18-point agenda

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly of Pakistan has strongly condemned the recent Israeli airstrikes on Iran, passing a unanimous resolution denouncing the attack and expressing full solidarity with the Iranian people.

The resolution, presented by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Syed Naveed Qamar during a session chaired by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, labelled the Israeli aggression as unacceptable and called for unity with the people of Iran.  “This House expresses solidarity with the Iranian people and strongly condemns the Israeli attack on Iran” the resolution states. Speaker Ayaz Sadiq reaffirmed the Assembly’s condemnation of the assault, stating, “We denounce Israel’s attack on Iran in the strongest terms.” Naveed Qamar echoed this sentiment, describing the aggression as a dangerous provocation that deserved robust condemnation from the House. Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain went further, declaring Israel’s very existence as illegitimate and a growing threat to peace in the region. He emphasised that Pakistan stands firmly with Iran and condemned the ongoing brutality in Gaza, where over 70,000 people have reportedly been killed. He also criticised the broader Muslim world for remaining largely silent in the face of such atrocities. Former Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said that no level of condemnation would be enough to match the severity of Israel’s actions.

He stressed that Iran is a brotherly Muslim nation, and the conflict had now reached Pakistan’s neighbourhood. Therefore, he said, Pakistan must raise the issue internationally responsibly and strategically. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan described the Israeli attack as a “tragic event in history” and urged the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League to convene emergency conferences to formulate a collective response. He warned that Israel continues to pose a serious threat to regional stability and global peace. Sahibzada Hamid Raza, leader of the Sunni Ittehad Council, called Israel a “terrorist state” and accused it of targeting not only Iran but also Pakistan. He used strong language against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and called for his prosecution at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Several lawmakers stressed the urgent need for a coordinated response from the Muslim world, calling on the OIC and Arab League to immediately convene emergency meetings to address the Israeli aggression.
