Pakistan Inaugurates First High-Speed EV Charging Station in Push for Green Mobility

ISLAMABAD:Pakistan’s first 120-kilowatt fast electric vehicle EV charging station was inaugurated Tuesday in Islamabad, marking a major step in the country’s shift toward clean energy and reduced carbon emissions.

Federal Energy Minister Sardar Owais Ahmed Khan Leghari hailed the project, developed by GoGreen Avenue, as a key milestone in reshaping Pakistan’s energy and transportation sectors. Speaking at the ceremony, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustainable policies and green mobility.

In a significant policy shift, Leghari announced a near 50% reduction in the price of electric charging units—from 71 rupees to 39 rupees—to encourage EV adoption. “This initiative reflects our dedication to making electric vehicles more accessible and affordable,” he said.
