ABBOTTABAD: In a decisive action against corruption, the Anti-Corruption team in Abbottabad launched a targeted raid on the office of a local revenue clerk (Patwari), apprehending him in the act of accepting a bribe of 100,000 rupees.
Prompted by a citizen’s courageous report to the Abbottabad Anti-Corruption unit of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it was revealed that officials from the Revenue Department/Cash Department were demanding illicit payments. The citizen, having marked the currency notes, delivered the bribe to the revenue clerk, setting the stage for a swift intervention. Under the vigilant supervision of the Civil Judge in Abbottabad, Anti-Corruption officials intercepted the Revenue Officer Patwari of Langra-1, Tehsil Havelian, identified as Jhanzib, along with Clerk Iftikhar. They were caught red-handed, and the bribe money was promptly recovered. Both individuals have been taken into custody for thorough interrogation. An FIR has been officially registered against the arrested parties under Section 161 PPC and Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2019, signalling a firm stand against corruption in the region.
