LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has been appointed as the new president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) following a decision by the regional body’s executive committee during a virtual session.
Naqvi, who has been serving as PCB chief since February 2024, will assume the role on April 3, marking a new chapter in Asian cricket leadership.
Expressing his gratitude, Naqvi stated, “Asia remains the heartbeat of world cricket, and I am committed to working with all member boards to accelerate the game’s growth.” He also thanked outgoing ACC President Shammi Silva of Sri Lanka Cricket for his contributions.
Silva, reflecting on his tenure, expressed confidence in Naqvi’s leadership, stating, “Under his guidance, the ACC will continue its remarkable journey.”
The ACC presidency follows a rotation-based system among member nations. Alongside his PCB and ACC roles, Naqvi also serves as Pakistan’s interior minister.

Meanwhile, Naqvi has delegated cricket-related responsibilities within the PCB to former captain Waqar Younis, who will advise on international and domestic cricket, selection matters, and player NOCs. The move is in line with the PCB Constitution 2014, which permits the chairman to share powers with other officials.
