PCB launches nationwide cricket talent hunt in schools

PCB initiates talent hunt program for budding school, college cricketers

LAHORE : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has launched a large-scale talent hunt program in schools across the country to find and nurture young cricketers.

The ambitious program will see more than 60 PCB coaches conducting trials at over 400 schools in 39 different districts. Following the trials, a nationwide 40-overs ODI tournament will begin next month among these schools.

The rewards for top performers are significant. The best 100 teams will qualify for a Weekend Schools League. The champion team of this league will win an international tour. Furthermore, the most talented players identified through the tournament will be selected to play in the PCB’s official Under-15 and Under-17 tournaments.

Director of Domestic Cricket Abdullah Khurram Niazi stated that the PCB will fully fund the entire program. He emphasized that the initiative is designed to allow children to pursue cricket alongside their education.

In a move to improve facilities, the PCB also plans to develop 168 school grounds across Pakistan to support the long-term growth of the game at the grassroots level.
