PCB set to replace Rizwan as Pakistan ODI captain: Reports

After 27 overs, they stand at 155/2. Babar Azam (40 off 51) and Mohammad Rizwan (27 off 28) are at the crease.

LAHORE: Pakistan’s ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan may be replaced as skipper soon, according to cricket board sources.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly finalizing a captaincy change in the coming days, with all-rounder Salman Ali Agha emerging as the top contender. New head coach Mike Hesson has begun consultations with the coaching staff to select both captain and vice-captain.

Salman previously captained Pakistan’s T20 team and is now favored for the ODI leadership. Rizwan was appointed captain for both white-ball formats in October 2024 but lost the T20 role after Pakistan’s disappointing Champions Trophy 2025 performance.

A final decision is expected shortly as the PCB reshapes the team leadership.
