PCB unveils schedule for South Africa series in Pakistan

PCB initiates talent hunt program for budding school, college cricketers

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Saturday unveiled the schedule for South Africa’s all-format tour of Pakistan, beginning October 12. The series will mark the start of Pakistan’s campaign in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27.

South Africa, the reigning WTC champions, will open the tour with a two-Test series. The first Test will be staged at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium from October 12–16, followed by the second at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from October 20–24. This will be South Africa’s first Test series in Pakistan since January 2021, when the hosts completed a 2–0 sweep.

After the red-ball contests, both sides will play a three-match T20I series from October 28 to November 1. Rawalpindi will host the opener, while the final two games will be played in Lahore.

The tour will conclude with three ODIs in Faisalabad from November 4–8, marking the return of international cricket to Iqbal Stadium after 17 years. The venue last hosted an ODI in April 2008, when Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets.

PCB Chief Operating Officer Syed Sumair Ahmed expressed excitement over the series, particularly the revival of international cricket in Faisalabad.
“We are delighted to welcome South Africa for the opening series of our WTC 2025–27 campaign. Facing the current Test champions will bring high-quality cricket for players and fans alike,” he said.
“The return of ODIs to Faisalabad after 17 years is a historic moment. Iqbal Stadium holds a proud place in our cricket history, and we are thrilled to bring international cricket back here.”
