More monsoon rains are predicted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from August 28 to September 2, prompting the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to issue a high alert.

According to the forecast from the Meteorological Department, the PDMA has instructed district administrations and relevant institutions to remain vigilant. Intermittent rains, along with wind, thunderstorms, and heavy downpours, are expected in various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during this period.

The heavy rains may lead to flash floods in local drains, rainwater springs, and rivers, particularly in the upper and central districts, including Galiyat, Mansehra, Kohistan (upper and lower), Kolaipalas, Abbottabad, Buner, Bajaur, Battagram, Hangu, Torghar, Haripur, Karak, Chitral (upper and lower), Dir (upper and lower), Swat, Shangla, Khyber, Kohat, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Kurram, Lakki Marwat, Malakand, Mohmand, Orakzai, Bannu, Waziristan (north and south), and Tank.

There is also a risk of landslides in the mountainous areas due to rainfall, while urban flooding is anticipated in city regions. The warning highlights that strong winds and thunderstorms could damage vulnerable structures, electricity poles, billboards, and solar panels. Consequently, district administrations have been directed to take necessary precautions, clear drainage systems, and raise awareness among local populations, tourists, and travellers.
