PDMA urges tourism department to alert tourists in advance during monsoon rains

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has sent a special letter to the Tourism Department to prevent possible hazards and take preventive measures during monsoon rains, emphasising timely information provision to the public at tourist destinations and adoption of precautionary measures.
The PDMA has said that tourists, tour guides and the local population should be warned about the dangers, such as expected rains and landslides during monsoon, in a timely manner so that any possible loss of life or property can be avoided.
The letter from the organisation has said that tourists should be provided with the latest weather conditions and precautionary measures related to travel during the rains through signboards, local administration, social media and digital means.
The PDMA has specifically directed tour guides to strictly follow the advisories and warnings issued by the organisations and avoid taking tourists to dangerous or sensitive areas.
PDMA’s Emergency Operations Centre is fully operational for immediate assistance and communication in any emergency situation, while the public can contact the free helpline 1700 to report any untoward incident.
