PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued an alert in the northern districts of the province in view of the threat of Glacial Lake Outburst (GLOF).
According to the PDMA, an unusual increase in temperature has been observed in recent days, due to which the risk of lake outburst and flooding has increased.
The PDMA has issued instructions to the Deputy Commissioners of Chitral Upper, Chitral Lower, Dir Upper, Swat and Kohistan Upper to ensure advance measures to deal with the emergency.
The letter has directed the concerned district administration to immediately alert the local population of sensitive areas and to keep emergency services, rescue personnel and relief teams ready, in addition to this, emergency equipment and available resources should be kept in advance so that any possible incident can be dealt with in a timely manner.

According to the letter, tourists have also been instructed to take precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary travel.
