Peace in Pakistan remains a dream until Afghanistan stabilises: Arbab Alamgir

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and former member of the National Assembly Arbab Alamgir Khan has said that the establishment of peace in Pakistan is a dream until Afghanistan stabilises. The return of Afghans should have happened long ago, even today no policy is being made, but only deadlines are being given for the last three decades.

Speaking on the Pakhtoon Digital Podcast, Arbab Alamgir Khan said that all political parties must unite and formulate a unified plan of action for the return of Afghans because peace is not possible in the entire region including Pakistan until peace is established in Afghanistan, and politicians have to play a fundamental role in establishing peace. Peace should be established together with the federal government and political parties because the common people are being affected due to the unrest.

The PP leader said that establishing peace is everyone’s responsibility. Innocent civilians, including security forces personnel, are being martyred every day, the National Action Plan has not been implemented, and even if a new one is made, it will not be successful.

He emphasized that Instead of blaming each other, practical steps would have to be taken. Politicians still do not seem serious about establishing peace. We have to forget our differences and sit at one table.

Criticizing the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, Arbab Alamgir said that a lot of funds were given to the province in the last 10-15 years, but no mega project was built in the three terms of PTI.

Regarding joining the federal government, he said that the government had been trying since the beginning, but he had no intention of joining the Pakistan People Party cabinet, which was decided in the central committee meeting.
