Peace march to be held in Bajaur on July 13 against unrest, committee decides

The Bajaur Peace Jirga Committee has announced that it will hold a peace march on July 13 to address the ongoing unrest in the area. People from various backgrounds and perspectives are invited to participate in large numbers.

According to a statement released after a consultative meeting, the peace march will begin on Sunday, July 13, at 8 AM from the Bajaur Sports Complex. The purpose of the march is to effectively convey the community’s demand for the restoration of peace and order in the region.

During the march, all business and commercial centres in Bajaur district will be closed, and traffic on both internal and external routes will be restricted to ensure that the event proceeds peacefully and effectively.

The Bajaur Peace Committee has also urged residents of Bajaur living in other cities across the country to show solidarity with their hometown by participating in peaceful protests outside local press clubs.

It is important to note that Maulana Khanzeb, a prominent local leader and central figure in the Awami National Party, was martyred by unknown gunmen while campaigning for the Bajaur Peace March yesterday. In response to this incident, violent protests erupted in Khar, the main city of Bajaur, while the ANP declared three days of mourning.

Maulana Khanzeb’s funeral prayers were held in Nawagai this afternoon and were attended by thousands of people.
