PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Peshawar Hayatabad police have successfully dismantled a car-lifting gang and recovered three stolen vehicles following a targeted operation. The arrests were made under the directives of senior police officials, who have intensified efforts to combat vehicle theft and other crimes in the district.
The operation was led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Cantt Division Aitzaz Arif, with Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hayatabad Circle Muhammad Ashfaq Khan overseeing the investigation. Station House Officer (SHO) Tariq Khan and his team apprehended the suspects, who are residents of the Badaber area and part of an organized car-lifting network.
The gang was involved in stealing vehicles from citizens in various areas of Hayatabad, often targeting individuals while they were shopping, praying at mosques, or otherwise occupied. Using modern investigative techniques, including analyzing CCTV footage and gathering intelligence, police traced and arrested the suspects.
The arrested individuals, identified as Ikram Gul, Tawas Khan, and Hazrat Babu, confessed to their involvement in multiple car thefts during interrogation. Police recovered three stolen vehicles based on their statements and returned the keys to the rightful owners after completing legal formalities.
The vehicle owners praised the Hayatabad Police for their swift action and expressed gratitude to the Capital City Police for their efforts. Authorities anticipate further revelations as the investigation continues.

The operation was launched after a complaint was filed by Syed Suleman Shah, who reported his vehicle stolen. A special team was formed to address the rising incidents of vehicle theft in the Hayatabad area, leading to a successful crackdown on the gang.
Police officials emphasized their commitment to using advanced investigative methods to curb crime and ensure public safety. The recovery of the stolen vehicles and the arrest of the suspects mark a significant achievement in the ongoing campaign against car-lifting and related crimes in the region.
