Peshawar police foil terror plot, recover arms and explosives

PESHAWAR: Peshawar police on Friday claimed to have arrested three suspected facilitators of terrorists and recovered a large cache of weapons and explosives.

According to officials, the arrests were made by Shabqadar Police based on intelligence reports. The suspects, affiliated with a banned organisation, were reportedly in contact with senior leadership based in Afghanistan.

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

Asif Ali alias Ansari, son of Shah Nawaz, resident of Battagram, Police Station Corona, Charsadda

Muhammad Huzaifa alias Buzurg alias Fateh, son of Muhammad Sarfaraz, resident of Chishti Abad Mohalla, Matta, Mughal Khel, Shabqadar

Salman alias Waqas, son of Ghulamullah, resident of Mohmandu Gandhab Yousuf Khel (now defunct), Shabqadar

Following their arrest, a search operation was conducted within the jurisdiction of Sarokli Police Station, during which a big cache of items was recovered, 4 rocket shells (107mm), 1 artillery shell, 5 RPG-7 shells, 8 hand grenades, 1 stand for 75RR, 1 light machine gun (LMG) and 30 feet of prima cord.
