Peshawar University ‘students slam KP government for poor performance

PESHAWAR: Students at the University of Peshawar have expressed disappointment over the performance of the PTI led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

Khkula Momand, a student of the journalism department, while talking to Pakhtun Digital, said that PTI came to power three times, but did nothing for the youth, especially women. She raised the question of why repeated protests did not yield any positive results.

Another student said: Degrees from our educational institutions have become just receipts. Educated youth were not getting jobs, and youth were compelled to leave for abroad to make a future.

The students also expressed their displeasure over the closure of scholarship programs and said that the government had reduced the educational opportunities for the youth.

They also praised Mega projects like BRT but the students said that the issues of education and employment were more important to be addressed, but unfortunately that have been ignored.

Students’ opinions on the protest were mixed—some called it ineffective, while others said the protest was being led in a disorganized manner, which was harming the youth.

In a video interview with the Pakhtun Digital correspondent, Salman Yousafzai in Peshawar, the University students expressed different views about the government’s performance, however, mostly criticized the provincial government over the bad governance in the province and unemployment.
