PESHAWAR: Javed Afridi, Chairman of the Zalmi Foundation and owner of Peshawar Zalmi (PSL), has pledged a donation of Rs50 million to the Pakistan Armed Forces in recognition of their courage and sacrifice.
The announcement was made via a post on X (formerly Twitter), where Afridi praised the military’s unwavering commitment to protecting the nation’s sovereignty. He emphasized that the contribution—made through the Zalmi Foundation—was a tribute to the armed forces’ bravery and resilience.
The Zalmi Foundation has previously undertaken various social development efforts across Pakistan, including the establishment of sports academies and organization of cricket events.
In a separate development, the Punjab Assembly on Saturday passed a resolution honoring the heroes of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos. Submitted by PML-N lawmaker Hina Pervaiz Butt, the resolution commended the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) for its exceptional performance during the operation, calling it a landmark moment in military history.
The resolution highlighted how PAF pilots demonstrated superior skill by neutralizing advanced enemy systems, effectively demoralizing the opposing side. It called for the inclusion of the operation in the national curriculum and celebrations, and proposed awarding top national honors to the martyrs and surviving heroes.
“This House reaffirms that Pakistan is invincible,” the resolution concluded.
