PHC barred NAB officials to arrest Kohistan scandal accuse

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court barred NAB officials from arresting one of the nominated accuse in the Kohistan scandal, Syed Mehtab Shah, as the petitioner assured full cooperation with NAB in the course of the investigation.

Hearing on the petition filed against the NAB notice to the accused in the Kohistan scandal, Syed Mehtab Shah, Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Farah Jamshed stopped NAB from arresting the petitioner, Syed Mehtab Shah. The court issued a notice to NAB and sought a response.

The lawyer of the petitioner, Syed Qaiser Ali Shah Advocate, said that his client is a property dealer, and NAB has issued an arrest warrant without any proof. NAB has issued a notice, but the warrant has not been issued yet, Special Prosecutor NAB Arbab Kaleemullah said.

Qaiser Ali Shah Advocate said the petitioner is ready to cooperate with NAB, and it should not arrest the petitioner. The court directed the petitioner that if NAB calls him, then he should cooperate in the investigation, and they would not arrest him.

Meanwhile, hearing another application filed by PTI leader Member of National Assembly Shandana Gulzar and Nadia Ambree, the court of Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Farah Jamshed granted protective bail to Shandana Gulzar and Nadia Ambreen and ordered police not to arrest them.

Petitioner’s lawyer, Moazzam Butt Advocate, said that his client, Shandana Gulzar, is a member of the National Assembly, Nadia Ambreen is a PTI leader, and various bogus cases have been registered against the petitioners, and no details are being provided to them regarding the nature of the cases.

Moazzam Butt, Advocate PTI, announced a protest on August 5; the government is now registering cases against leaders. The court grants protective bail to petitioner Shandana Gulzar till August 19 and Nadia Ambreen till August 23.
