PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court, while hearing a contempt case against FIA and NAB, has allowed Azam Swati to travel abroad and removed his name from the exit control list.
Peshawar High Court was re-hearing the contempt of court petition filed against the non-removal of PTI leader Senator Azam Swati’s name from the ECL. A two-member bench comprising Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Farah Jamshed heard the petition.
FIAn Immigration Representative said that the petitioner’s name is also included in the PNIL along with the ECL. They said that the petitioner’s name was included in the ECL at the behest of NAB If he says so, we will let him go, the FIA Immigration Representative said.
Justice Arshad Ali ordered the FIA representative to remove the petitioner’s name from the list in which he has been enlisted and allow the petitioner to go abroad tomorrow.
He remarked that the petitioner is going for treatment, it is a matter of two weeks, give him relief.
The court ordered the removal of Azam Swati’s name from the Exit Control list and the provisional National Identification List(PNIL). Several PTI leaders were named in the ECL after May 09 violence-related cases, while some of the leaders received relief after court intervention.
