PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court grants protective bail to PTI leader Zartaj Gul and directs her to appeal in the respective court for suspending her punishment.
Justice Arshad Ali and Justice Farah Jamshed, while hearing the petition of Zartaj Gul, remarked that there may be some flaws in her legal team, and he should submit his objection appeal in the relevant court.
The petitioner’s Lawyer said that her client has been sentenced to ten years by the Anti-Terrorism Court without any solid proof. The court directed you to go to the relevant court. How can this court give you relief here?
The petitioner’s lawyer said that they are only seeking bail to appear in the relevant courts. The Judge asked whether this sentence was in one trial or separately? The petitioner’s lawyer told these sentences were in separate trials.
Justice Arshad Ali, in his remarks, said that the petition must object in this case, but this court is not a relevant forum for her to appeal against the sentences. The Deputy Attorney General said that she has been sentenced up to 10 years, and now she should be arrested while they are requesting to declare the sentence null and void; it is not within the jurisdiction of this court, the Deputy Attorney General added.
The Judge told the attorney they will appeal against the verdict of the sentences, that is why they have come here, Justice Arshad Ali told the Deputy Attorney General. Later, the court granted protective bail after hearing the arguments.
