PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court has granted protective bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Iftikhar Mashwani and barred authorities from arresting him.
A divisional bench of the Peshawar High Court comprising Justice Sahibzada Asadullah and Justice Aurangzeb Khan heard the application filed by member of provincial assembly Iftikhar Mashwani for details of the cases registered against him.
The petitioner’s lawyer took the stand that the petitioner is a respected member of the KP assembly.
Justice Sahibzada Asadullah questioned whether the FIA and NAB have submitted their reports.
Deputy Attorney General Daulat Khan replied that FIA and NAB have submitted their reports while the Ministry of Interior is yet to submit. He informed the court that a letter has been sent to the Ministry of Interior in this regard.
Later, the court granted protective bail to Iftikhar Mashwani until April 15 and barred authorities from arresting him in any registered case. The court also sought a report from the relevant parties, including the Ministry of Interior, on the next hearing.
Later, the court adjourned the hearing until April 15.
