PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court PHC has denied bail to Imtiaz, alias Tora Shipa, the primary facilitator arrested in connection with the devastating Peshawar Police Lines blast. In a detailed four-page verdict, the court ordered Imtiaz to remain in custody, citing his failure to prove his innocence and the gravity of the charges against him.
The blast, which claimed 86 lives and left numerous others injured, was described as a tragic incident with far-reaching consequences. The court emphasized that Imtiaz had submitted his third bail application, which was dismissed due to the severity of the case and the potential risk of his involvement in similar activities if released.
According to the verdict, the prosecution has yet to complete the trial within the stipulated six-month period. The court has now directed that the trial be concluded within 90 days. Imtiaz’s lawyer argued that the accused is under 18 years of age, but the court found this insufficient to grant bail, given the nature of the charges.
The decision also highlighted Imtiaz’s background, noting that he is an Afghan national with family ties to a banned organization. The court pointed out that some of his family members were killed while engaging in anti-state activities, further raising concerns about the risks associated with his release.

The verdict concluded that releasing Imtiaz could pose a significant threat to public safety, as there is a strong possibility of his re-engagement in unlawful activities. Therefore, the court rejected his bail application, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring justice for the victims of the Police Lines blast.
This marks another setback for Imtiaz, whose previous bail applications have also been denied in light of the serious allegations against him.
