PHC reserves verdict on relocation of matric exam centres

PHC Reserves Verdict on Relocation of Matric Exam Centres

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Friday reserved its verdict on a petition challenging the shifting of matriculation examination centres from private to government schools.

A two-member bench, comprising Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Tariq Afridi, heard the arguments from both sides. The Controller of Examinations for the Peshawar Board assured the court that all necessary facilities were available at the relocated centres and that no complaints had been received.

The petitioners’ counsel, however, argued that the education department had previously raised concerns about inadequate facilities at the new centres. They also highlighted potential security risks for students traveling to the new locations, including one in Mathra.

The board’s lawyer countered that all arrangements, including security, were in place, and the distance between original and shifted centres did not exceed three kilometres. After hearing both sides, the court reserved its judgment.
