PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) imposed a Rs10,000 fine on the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) for failing to send a lawyer to a hearing regarding the non-allotment of residential plots to PDA and Local Government employees.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Faheem Wali heard the case. No legal representative appeared for the PDA, with officials stating their previous lawyer had been removed and a new legal panel was not yet formed.
Petitioners’ lawyer Advocate Mumtaz Ahmed argued that employees were entitled to plots under court rulings and government policies, but the PDA had not complied. The court rejected the PDA’s request for more time, with Justice Arshad Ali criticizing the authority’s casual approach to legal matters.
The PHC ordered the PDA to pay the fine and ensure legal representation at the next hearing.
