The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has imposed restrictions on pillion riding, public gatherings and other activities in 13 districts given security concerns on the occasion of Chehlum Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
According to the Home Department, the districts where the restrictions have been imposed include Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohat, Hangu, Bannu, Kurram, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan and Tank. Section 144 imposed, application to remain in effect for a week.
According to the Home Department, these measures have been taken under Section 144 and the ban will continue for a week. To ensure law and order during Chehlum and prevent any possible untoward incident. There will be a complete ban on pillion riding and public gatherings, a ban on provocative speeches, wall chalking and distribution and advertising of objectionable materials.
There will be also bane, unnecessary use of loudspeakers is prohibited, a complete ban on the use of tinted glass in vehicles, a complete ban on the display of weapons, aerial firing and fireworks, the presence of people on the roofs of houses located on the routes of Chehlum processions has been prohibited, and the movement of Afghan citizens has also been banned.
According to the authorities, instructions have been issued to the security agencies to implement all these restrictions, and strict legal action will be taken against violators.
