PM, Army Chief to address Overseas Pakistanis Convention today

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief General Asim Munir are expected to address the Overseas Pakistanis Convention today (Tuesday).

Today is the last day of the two-day Overseas Pakistanis Convention in which more than 1,500 overseas Pakistanis from all over the world are participating in the convention, who have been given the status of state guests.

The objective of the convention is to consult on the issues of the overseas community, remittances, investment opportunities, and government facilities.

The participants are being informed about investment and facilities in Pakistan, while various sessions were also organized to listen to their suggestions and problems.

Yesterday, the event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, the national anthem and the slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad”.

Speaker of National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, federal ministers, Pakistani ambassadors posted abroad and important figures from different fields attended the convention.

In his inaugural address, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq said that issues related to dual citizenship and elections can be discussed, Overseas Pakistanis should highlight these issues through their parties so that legislation can be made on them.

Overseas Pakistanis Foundation Chairman Syed Qamar Raza said that the Prime Minister will announce a special package for Overseas Pakistanis at the convention, which will create more facilities for them.

During the convention yesterday, the services of Overseas Pakistanis in the country’s economy were appreciated and they were assured that the government was taking their problems seriously.

The participants also expressed their determination to fully cooperate with the government and said that they would play every possible role in the development of Pakistan.
