ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has commended the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) for their crackdown on human trafficking, emphasising the need for its complete eradication.
During a briefing on anti-trafficking measures, the prime minister lauded law enforcement agencies for successfully apprehending the Jajja human trafficking gang, including its ringleader Usman Jajja.
Referring to the Libya boat tragedy, PM Shahbaz stated that such incidents have brought shame to Pakistan, as victims drowned at sea due to human trafficking networks. He stressed the urgent need to eliminate this heinous crime and pledged full government support for enforcement agencies in their mission.
“The officers who took action against human trafficking have brought honour to the country,” he remarked, directing relevant institutions to work tirelessly to curb the menace.
PM Shahbaz emphasised that every citizen must play a role in uplifting Pakistan’s global reputation. He announced shields and cash rewards of Rs1 million for officers who excelled in combating human trafficking, vowing that such efforts would continue with full government backing.
“The entire nation stands with institutions in their fight against human trafficking,” he added, urging officials to maintain their high performance in tackling the crime.
