PM Directs NDMA to stay alert as flood level rises in Sutlej, Ravi and Chenab Rivers

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif issues special instructions to federal ministers in view of the threat of severe floods in Chenab, Sutlej and Ravi rivers.

The Prime Minister has directed the federal ministers to immediately visit the flood-affected areas of Punjab province and monitor the relief operations. The Prime Minister has directed the federal ministers to go to their respective constituencies and to personally monitor the evacuation, rescue and relief activities while being present on the spot.

The Prime Minister has directed the National Disaster Management Authority and other relevant institutions to remain on high alert in view of the possible flood situation in Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej rivers. The Prime Minister has directed the Chairman NDMA to provide advance information to the people in the relevant areas with the coordination and full support of the PDMA and to immediately transport the people of the endangered areas to safe places. The Prime Minister has directed the National Disaster Management Authority and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority to review the situation moment by moment.

The relief operations should be further intensified and all the relevant department must keep Inter-communications to counter any adverse impact of the flood water. The process of immediately relocating people living along river crossings to safer places should be made more effective and faster.
