ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday firmly rejected India’s attempts to link Pakistan to the Pahalgam incident and reiterated his call for a transparent, credible, and impartial international investigation into the matter and invited the United Kingdom to participate in the probe.
The prime minister made these remarks during a meeting with UK High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott, at the Prime Minister House, according to a statement from the PM Office Media Wing.
Sharing Pakistan’s perspective on the regional situation following the Pahalgam incident, the prime minister emphasised that his government, with the support of friendly nations including the UK, remains focused on promoting economic growth and national development. He stressed that Pakistan would never take any action that could jeopardise regional peace and stability.
Acknowledging the UK’s cordial relations with both Pakistan and India, the prime minister urged London to play a constructive role in easing tensions.
In response, the British High Commissioner thanked the prime minister for outlining Pakistan’s position and affirmed the UK’s commitment to working with both countries to support regional peace and security.
