ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formally inaugurated a week-long nationwide anti-polio campaign by administering polio drops to children.
Speaking at the launch, he urged parents to support field teams by ensuring their children receive the vaccine, stressing that public cooperation is key to eradicating the virus.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence in Pakistan’s ability to eliminate polio through collective efforts. He noted that robust security measures have been put in place to protect vaccination teams, Radio Pakistan reported.
Highlighting the importance of public awareness and community mobilization, he also thanked international partners—particularly the World Health Organization and the Gates Foundation—for their ongoing support.
This follows a previous anti-polio drive launched by the Prime Minister from February 3–9, targeting children under five across the country.
At that earlier ceremony, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating polio, emphasizing that the nationwide campaign aims to safeguard the health and future of millions of children. He expressed hope that dedicated vaccination teams would reach even the most remote areas, fulfilling their national duty with full dedication.
