Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif visited the Turkish Presidential Palace in Istanbul after arriving in Turkey on a 2-day official visit.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warmly welcomed Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Turkish Defence Minister, Governor of Istanbul, Pakistani Ambassador to Turkey, and high officials were also present on the occasion.
The Prime Minister and the Turkish President held a meeting in which the two leaders discussed in detail the brotherly relations between Pakistan and Turkey, mutual cooperation, trade, investment, defence, energy and partnership in the fields of education.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif mentioned the historical relations between Pakistan and Turkey and expressed special gratitude to the Turkish President and the Turkish nation for Turkey’s unwavering support during the Indo-Pak war.
A meeting was also held at the delegation level in which the Pakistani delegation was led by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was also present. It was agreed in the meeting to further enhance mutual cooperation in various sectors.
During the meeting, deep concern was also expressed over the ongoing Israeli aggression and humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The Prime Minister and the Turkish President called for an end to the oppression of unarmed Palestinians, stopping the massacre, and providing immediate humanitarian aid. Both leaders called on the international community to provide immediate protection to the Palestinian people.
