PM Shehbaz arrives in Dushanbe to attend summit on glacier preservation, meet regional leaders

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in the capital city of Tajikistan, Dushanbe, on Thursday for a two-day official visit. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties and address pressing global environmental issues at the International Conference on Glacier Preservation.

Upon his arrival at Dushanbe Airport, he was warmly welcomed by Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda, Deputy Foreign Minister Farrukh Homiddin Sharifzoda, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Tajikistan Muhammad Saeed Sarwar, and Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Yusuf Sharifzoda.

Accompanying the Prime Minister are Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and Special Assistant Syed Tariq Fatemi.

During his stay, Prime Minister Sharif is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon. The two leaders will explore opportunities for collaboration across various sectors and discuss regional developments, including Pakistan’s appreciation for Tajikistan’s steadfast support amid ongoing tensions between Pakistan and India.

A significant highlight of the visit will be the Prime Minister’s participation in a high-level international conference on glacier preservation. At this event, he will emphasise the severe impact of climate change on Pakistan and reaffirm the country’s unwavering commitment to environmental protection and glacier conservation.

Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan is ready for talks on Kashmir and terrorism if India is sincere.

Speaking at a ceremony on the occasion of Azerbaijan’s Independence Day, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said they are celebrating Azerbaijan’s Independence Day, and on this day, Pakistan is also celebrating Youm-e-Takbir. Pakistan became a nuclear power on May 28, while on this day, the armed forces of Azerbaijan fought bravely and congratulated the Azerbaijani people on the liberation of the occupied territories, while our political and diplomatic support is for Azerbaijan.

The Prime Minister said that a few weeks ago, Pakistan faced a cowardly enemy, and the cowardly enemy was 5 times bigger than Pakistan in economic terms, while the enemy had modern technology and jets.

Shahbaz Sharif said that the Pahalgam incident took place in which 26 people were killed and it was a sad incident, but India started making false allegations against Pakistan over this incident and India said that Pakistan was involved in the so-called Pahalgam incident, however, we offered an impartial international investigation into this incident, but India attacked Pakistan and martyred children and women, 55 Pakistanis were injured in the Indian attacks.

He said that after this, Pakistan responded in self-defense and our brave Air Force shot down 6 Indian aircraft, including 4 Rafales, one MiG-29 and other aircraft, after this we gave a message that we are peaceful people and want peace, we told them that if they attack us, we will give a befitting reply.

He said that we decided to give a befitting reply on the night of May 9 and 1,0, and after Fajr prayers, our forces started responding, but India again attacked Pakistan and fired Brahmos missiles, which targeted different areas of Pakistan.

He said that Field Marshal Asim Munir told him that India had attacked again. There was confidence in the Field Marshal’s voice. We were clear that we had to teach the enemy a lesson. After that, we targeted Indian military installations, and we gave them a strong response. Then the Army Chief said that India is approaching a ceasefire. I said that if we believe in peace, then accept this request. The Prime Minister said that we will never forget the support of Turkey and Azerbaijan. I have insufficient words to express my gratitude. Our trilateral meeting was very good.

Shahbaz Sharif further said that he is grateful to brotherly countries for their support for Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmiris should get the fundamental right to freedom, the Kashmir issue should be resolved in accordance with the resolutions of the Security Council and the day will come very soon when the people of Kashmir will be free from slavery.
