PM Shehbaz lauds Navy as ‘Sea Shields of the nation’ for safeguarding maritime borders

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday visited the Pakistan Navy Dockyard in Karachi to pay tribute to the Pakistan Navy’s pivotal role in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos. The high-profile visit underscored the Navy’s strategic contributions during the ongoing military campaign.

Upon arrival, the Prime Minister was received by the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf. Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Baber Sidhu were also present, demonstrating unified military leadership.

During the visit, the Prime Minister boarded the Type-054A Class Destroyer PNS Taimur, where he was briefed by Commander Pakistan Fleet on the Navy’s strategic posture, operational capabilities, and key undertakings as part of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif interacted with officers and sailors, lauding their exceptional professionalism, combat readiness, and unwavering dedication to national defence. He reiterated the nation’s profound appreciation and trust in the Pakistan Armed Forces.

In his address, the Prime Minister commended the Pakistan Navy’s resolute maritime posture and operational dexterity, particularly highlighting its role in safeguarding sea lines of communication and ensuring uninterrupted maritime trade. He praised the Navy’s layered defence and seaward deterrence, essential to maintaining maritime sovereignty.

Recalling the historic Operation Dwarka, the Prime Minister affirmed that the Pakistan Navy remains fully capable of executing high-intensity operations to safeguard the country’s maritime frontiers, whenever required.

He was accompanied by a federal delegation including Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Information Minister Attaulah Tarar, and Education Minister Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

The visit comes at a time of heightened regional tension and serves as a reaffirmation of civil-military harmony and national resolve in the face of external threats.
